How to reduce startup time of Websphere Portal Server 6.0?

One reason for Websphere Portal Server 6.0 to take more time while starting up is it tries to publish so many unwanted portlets during startup.

and Here is the procedure to stop unwanted portlet applications which are part of default installation.

Solution 1:

1) Locate the file serverindex.xml , generally you can find in the server config directory of the workspace.

Location for example:

C:\ibm\WebSphere\profiles\wp_profile\config\cells\MSPJ1\nodes\MSPJ1\serverindex.xml

2) Backup the existing file.

3) Edit existing file and remove unwanted portlets
4) Start the portal server

These applications are still available, but we are not starting these applications. Anytime we can revert back by renaming the file.

Solution 2:

You can uninstall the portlets depending on your needs. If you intend to use the features provided by any of the portlets listed below, you should not uninstall them.
